Patch Lining

Structural patch lining is an efficient, cost-effective and discreet method of repairing damage to your leaking pipes. We will not even have to carry out excavation work in order to fit a durable resin and patch liner combination, which seals any cracks or holes affecting that section of your drain.

All we will need to do to begin is carry out a CCTV drainage survey, uncovering the exact location of the damage, before we place the new lining over it.

Drain Relining

If we discover that the damage to your leaking pipes is too great for structural patch lining to be of any use, we’ll move on to full drain lining. The emergency procedure is similar to patch lining but involves fitting a completely new pipe-like sleeve or lining to the inside of your drain.

This can be completed in a single day in most cases, so your property will be back to normal before you know it.

Finding a Water Leak

We understand that finding a leak on your property is stressful, which is why we also aim to offer advice which can help make repairing your leak a little bit easier. When you find a water leak around your property or its boundary, the first thing you’ll need to do is turn off the water supply. For a leak found indoors, this will mean looking for the inside stopcock (also known as the “stop tap” or “stop valve”).

Most likely, this will be located underneath your kitchen sink, but can also be somewhere nearby in the room, or even in your hallway. The easiest way to find it is to start at your kitchen sink’s cold tap and follow the pipe as far as possible until you come across it.

If the leak appears to have sprung up outside, this could mean that there is a problem with the supply pipe providing water to your property. In this case, you will need to locate your outside stopcock and turn it off. You’ll normally be able to spot it if you look at the covers found on the path by the road. It may also be in the same place as your water meter, or at the end of your road if you have an older property and share a water supply with your neighbours.

Who is Responsible for the Drain’s Repair?

Once the stopcock has been turned off, it will be time for a professional repair service to see your emergency water leak. However, calling someone out to take care of the problem may not be your responsibility.

If the damage causing the leak is located outside your property boundary, it will fall to your local water authority to ensure it gets repaired. They will usually have an emergency number to call or a page on their website to refer to when you need to report a leak.

Home and business owners are only responsible for keeping their supply pipes and interior pipes in good working order. If you are renting a property, the task will usually fall to your landlord (though you may need to check your tenancy agreement to be sure of this), while shared supply pipes will have shared responsibility.

In this case, you should check the title deeds of your property to check if any property has overall responsibility, or if the work needs to be paid for equally.
